FELT NECKLACES
These felt necklaces are hand made using constructed from repurposed/recycled felt used to make traditional Peruvian Andean hats. 100% wool; each piece is hand cut and formed before being applied to each other to become a necklace. The sustainable accessory collection includes chokers, chains and long butterfly leis.
About the designer: VACIDE ERDA ZIMIC
Vacide Erda Zimic was born in Lima, Peru in 1974. Her career started as an artist studying painting in the Fine Arts Dept. at The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. After graduating, she experimented in set design, cabinet design, photography and Illustration, before she felt the desire to devote herself to product design. In 2001, she started her own studio and workshop, employing local artisans .
Today, her eco collection is composed of textiles. Zimic uses recycled and reclaimed scrap fabrics like felt, cotton, alpaca and carpet; combining them to make objects using different processes such as sewing, rolling, sticking and cutting. Her current collection includes handbags, necklaces, brooches, earrings and many other fashion accessories. She lives in Lima with her daughter and husband and collaborates with local Peruvian artisans in a Fair Trade manner..
